General Description
The DuraMAR 1000 is a rugged Mobile IP (Internet Protocol) router developed and qualified for use in harsh mobile environments, including passenger and freight rail vehicles. Leveraging best-in-class routing technology, the unit supports the Mobile IP standard for seamless roaming through wireless networks. The system is wireless agnostic and can interface with most legacy and future data radios. A typical installation connects onboard applications to the enterprise back-office through public cellular, private VHF/UHF, 802.11, satellite, or any combination thereof. Encryption, authentication and policy routing are standard features used to protect sensitive data from malicious attacks.
Designed to global industry standards for vehicle/military grade electronics, the DuraMAR integrates a highly robust power supply and hardened enclosure isolated against voltage spikes, transients and harsh environmental stresses (shock, vibe, humidity, EMI/EMC) experienced onboard railway, aircraft, naval and ground vehicles. The unit's power supply also incorporates intelligent power management circuitry to prevent adverse power conditions from disabling the router. LED status indicators for power, network and serial connections, as well as a console port and manual reset switch are located on the front panel. The rear panel on the DuraMAR (versions MAR-1001-01 and -02) includes a set of three IP67 hardened RJ-45 Ethernet and three MIL-38999 serial connectors.
Application flexibility is a key attribute of the DuraMAR. The unit's compact chassis is conveniently designed for easy removal and upgrade, snapping into a mounting tray with spring-loaded dagger pins. The unit also integrates multiple Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) RJ-45 injector ports and Power with Serial (PwS) connectors so that clean isolated power and signal are carried over a single standard Ethernet or serial cable. This eliminates the need for separate power cables or power supplies, while bringing new communications capabilities to legacy serial or Ethernet devices.
