8D™ Pay and Go Parking Kiosk
 8D had created Cloud 9, a powerful Java-based operating environment that simplifies system testing and reprogramming, and 8D ECO, a compact integrated unit that can be embedded in any remote device. 8D decided to proceed with a RISC-based platform, after realizing the low power, rich I/O parameters needed for this application. Intel’s low-powered RISC-based processors and a large reserve battery enable the stations to run on solar power, separate from both electrical and telephone grids.  This Graphics Client Plus plays a central role in switching, monitoring and controlling battlefield communication. For this project, it had to be hardened against direct exposure to battlefield radar. This company has since become part of a major defense contractor, who continues to select ADS as a partner.

DCS Local Delivery Truck Management
Embedded Truck Telematics Computer DCS incorporates ADS technologies within a wireless communication platform called the Diplomat. This portable unit is used by companies with a mobile work force to track their traveling vehicles for more efficient deliveries and route planning.

This is another good example of an ADS solution for in-vehicle telematics.
Excalibur Precision Guided Munitions
Smart Weapons PXA and iMX CPU Under contract to the U.S. Army, Raytheon is developing the Excalibur — the world’s first artillery projectile to be guided by a global positioning system (GPS). Excalibur is a 155 mm artillery round with the accuracy to destroy targets in first-round fire from ranges up to 30 miles.

This is one of the many ADS systems applied for Battlefield Electronics and Smart Munitions.

MIT Media Lab "Eye Society" Powered by ADS!
MIT Robot Vison System
 Eye Society is a project in which a "society" of intelligent cameras solves calibration and scene-modeling problems through exchange of data. There is no central server. Adding a degree of mobility to the cameras will further permit them to rearrange themselves to take advantage of egomotion and parallax, to verify calibration calculations, to see viewpoints with strong three-point perspective, fill in occluded regions, and better model occluded object contours.

Pile Cross-Hole Analyzer (CHAMP model)
Pile Cross-hole analyzer

The Cross-Hole Analyzer (CHA) model CHAMP verifies the quality of the concrete of concrete foundations (drilled shafts). The instrument is used in a test that invlves lowering a transmitter and a reciever down tubes installed in the shaft. The CHAMP processes the recieved signals and displays graphs that allow the identification of potential defects in the foundation.

Pile Integrity Tester
Pile Integrity Tester The Pile Integrity Tester (PIT) is used to confirm the absence of major cracks and voids on concrete foundations. It processes data from one or two accelerometers attached to the top of a foundation element. Data is obtained by impacting the top of the foundation wit ha small hand-held hammer. Analysis of the graphs displayed on the PIT screen allow the tester to identify potential problems on the foundation. The computer is an Applied Data Systems Bitsy running Windows CE and programmed by Pile Dynamics, incorporating their modeling and data analysis software.

VoIP Phone eMillennium is the public communication for the 21st Century. Users can check e-mail, get stock quotes, make on-line purchases, even cruise the Internet, all while talking on the phone. Extensive testing to meet FCC and CSA telecommunication requirements was required for this device.

Solar Challenge Powered by ADS
Solar Electric Car with embedded computer Principia College selected ADS' Graphics Master for their solar car, the Ra V. All cars must be powered solely by sunshine! Principia students used the Graphics Master for battery management. For example, calculations about the car's speed, weather conditions, topography, etc are vital for planning the ride "real time."

Rosario Bus Integrated Telematics
Bus Telematics Rosario Bus S.A. developed an integrated system for their bus transport system. This system links computers on the bus with real-time scheduling and operations, as well as route planning, driver training and customer satisfaction tracking systems.

Sunrise Telecom Cable Tester
Windows CE Analyzer ADS engineers worked with Sunrise to develop the CaLan N1776A, which combines the functions of a spectrum analyzer, network sweep system, digital modulation analyzer, signal level meter and IP tester.
