Trucks, buses and trains all make heavy demands on their embedded systems,
as do the systems that support them. Systems may be stored outside in a North Dakota winter or Las Vegas summer, and then must spring to action. Vibration can be extreme. Complex interfaces are required, and often geolocation and mapping is required to monitor movement. Finally, these systems need long lifetimes in the market and must not be rendered obsolete by component EOL (End-Of-Life).

8D Pay and Go Parking Kiosk

After realizing the low power demand and rich I/O parameters needed for their application, 8D decided to proceed with a RISC-based platform.
