Description

Embedded systems users have had to make a trade-off in the past, between processing capabilities and power consumption. To bring computing power to users in a pervasive manner, making such capabilities an integral part of their daily life, required processing innovation. That innovation comes from the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z500 series, based on Intel’s 45nm Hi-K process technology, and the Intel® System Controller Hub (SCH), integrating high-end graphics with memory and I/O. 

With Applied Data's embedded solutions based on the Intel® Atom™ Processor, users are no longer tied to an outlet, manufacturers are no longer limited in operating system choices, and OEMs can take advantage of a broad range of operating system options including Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, Embedded XP, CE, Linux and targeted real-time operating systems (RTOS), all while still consuming less than 5W of power per system.

The Catalyst Module lets OEM customers move quickly to benefit from the latest Intel embedded technology for high performance, low power applications, such as ruggedized handheld, multimedia, medical, point of service, and industrial designs. The Catalyst two-card model gives customers flexibility in their personality board, starting with either a standard version or a custom design (by Applied Data or a third party) to meet unique requirements for greater differentiation against the competition.
